Overview
LM Mini is built so your conversations stay on hardware you control. We do not sell your data. We do not use your chats to train models. This page covers the website and the official App Store, Google Play and Mac apps. Builds made from the open-source code are covered under Builds from source.
Chats stay local by default
Chat history, settings, personas, and server URLs live on your device (and, if you use them, on your own computer running LM Studio, Ollama, oMLX, or LM Mini Home). Ordinary chat is sent to the backend you configure — not to an LM Mini “cloud brain.”
The Apple Watch app talks only to your paired iPhone (through Apple’s WatchConnectivity). The iPhone app sends the message to your configured backend, the same as typing it on the phone.
App Lock PIN
If you turn on App Lock, the numeric PIN is stored only on that device as a salted hash. We never receive it. It is not included in Home sync, iCloud, or encrypted cloud backup. Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint unlock is handled by your device’s operating system; we never receive biometric data.
If you are signed in with Apple, Google, or email when you set the PIN, the app remembers that account’s ID and email on the device so you can recover a lost PIN. Recovery asks you to sign in again and confirm a verification email sent through Google Firebase, then lets you choose a new PIN. Without a linked account, reinstalling the app is the only way to clear the lock.
Chat sync never stays on our servers
If you pair with LM Mini Home (Share with phone) or Connect (Windows/Linux) and use remote access or chat sync, traffic is encrypted with a key from your QR pairing. Our relay forwards packets in real time between your phone and your computer.
We do not store your chats on the relay. Sync is a live pipe, not a hosted inbox. If the session ends, we are not keeping a copy of the conversation on our servers.
Optional iCloud
On Apple devices you can turn on iCloud sync. That data is stored in your iCloud account under Apple’s privacy policy. It is off unless you enable it. It is not our relay.
App Store / Google Play build — extra services
The store apps may connect to Google Firebase so product features work. That can include:
- Anonymous account — a random ID so the app can talk to our backends. You can later link Apple, Google, or email if you choose.
- Firebase Analytics — app opens, platform, paywall views, and first purchase. Used to understand installs and subscriptions. Not chat text or prompts.
- Feature requests, changelog, community themes, voice catalog — stored in our database when you use those screens.
Builds from source do not use these services; see below.
Builds from source
The LM Mini core is open source on GitHub. Builds you or others make from it ship without our Firebase configuration and without Pro services. They send chats only to the providers you configure. They may still check lmmini.com for version information, and the Mac app's Share with phone uses our relay, which forwards encrypted traffic and does not store it. If you add your own Firebase project, its data goes to you. We cannot vouch for third-party forks: their privacy is up to whoever publishes them.
Pro (store only)
Paid Pro is processed by Apple or Google. We do not see your full payment card. Optional Pro features (such as App Lock, encrypted cloud backup, Pro Search, or cloud API providers you configure with your own keys) are described in the app. Backup, when you use it, is encrypted with a passphrase you choose; we cannot read it. Cloud providers receive what you send them under their policies.
This website
lmmini.com may use a small analytics script to count visits. It is separate from in-app chat.
Version checks
The app checks our changelog service for app updates and fetches connect-version.json from lmmini.com to tell you about LM Mini Connect updates. Neither request includes your chats.
Deletion
- Delete conversations in the app, or uninstall to remove local data.
- Turn off Home/Connect and iCloud sync if you enabled them.
- Email [email protected] if you have a linked store account and want help deleting server-side feature-request or backup metadata associated with it.
